Mrs. Holland is the Master Instructor of the Shield of Faith Schools and primarily teaches at the Troy location.
New students can start at any time during the year. We invite prospective students to come and watch a training class.
At Shield of Faith Schools we blend martial arts with Biblical principles. Our unique style, Cha Yun-Do, is based on natural movements of the body, in an easy, flowing manner without rigidness or stiffness. Cha Yun-Do is an integrated system using defensive techniques followed by counterattacking techniques when necessary. Cha Yun-Do was developed by Dr. Randolph Young.
We are dedicated to fostering physical strength, spiritual growth, and self-discipline through the discipline of Cha Yun-Do, rooted in biblical principles. Join us to develop your body, mind, and spirit in a community of martial artists devoted to following Jesus.
Cha Yun-Do is more than another martial art style. It is a discipline that trains the whole person, with Scripture as the cornerstone of every class.
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
— Ephesians 6:11 ESV
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.”
— Isaiah 1:17 ESV
Natural, flowing movements build strength, coordination, and stamina without unnecessary rigidness. Students of every age and ability are met where they are.
Discipline, focus, and respect carry over into school, work, and home. Students learn to think clearly under pressure and to lead with humility.
Every class is grounded in biblical principles. We train not only to defend ourselves, but to walk with Christ and serve others.
Classes are open to all ages. Students may begin training at any time of the year. We invite you to visit and observe a class before signing up.

Cha Yun-Do uses a traditional colored-belt system. Each rank represents both a level of skill and a stage of personal and spiritual growth. Promotions are earned through testing.
Each instructor is a committed Christian and a senior practitioner of Cha Yun-Do. We are devoted to discipling students in both martial art and faith.

Choosing what martial art to learn is an interesting decision these days. When I was growing up there were not too many options on what we could learn. I remember trying Kungfu and something else before training in Tae Kwon Do for about three years. The rule that we had was if the class was asked to meditate or bow to an idol then we could no longer participate. I remember enjoying learning kicks, punches and going to some competitions, which were not as fun. When my daughter was looking to do something more active, I thought, let's do martial arts together. It will be fun, I said. I'm not sure she was all that enthusiastic at first. However, after a few months, at the top of her Christmas list was sparring gear.
